Balakrishna Pillai faints at Pampa

Kerala Congress(B) leader, R. Balakrishna Pillai, was taken to KIMS Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram following an uneasiness he had developed during his visit to Pampa to attend the Aratt ceremony in river Pampa marking culmination of the 10-day annual festival at the Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala on Wednesday forenoon.

Mr. Pillai had fainted while offering the Nirapara (a measure of paddy) vazhipadu to the deity after the Aratt puja by 11.40 a.m. He was rushed to the nearby Government Hospital and from there to the Muthoot Hospital at Pathanamthitta in an ambulance of the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences unit at Pampa by 2 p.m.

The doctors who attended on him said his health condition was stable. K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA; P. N. Narendranathan Nair, Nair Service Society president, and P. Mohanraj, District Congress Committee president, were among those who called on Mr. Pillai at the private hospital.

Mr. Pillai proceeded to the KIMS Hospital in his own vehicle from Pathanamthitta, by 2.15 p.m., later.
