Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has appealed to trade unions in the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to avoid strikes and support the management’s initiatives to revamp the transport utility and overcome its financial crisis.

Intervening during the reply to a question by C. Divakaran of the CPI on the arrest and suspension of the AITUC union general secretary and others who agitated in front of the Transport Bhavan and on the need to take the staff into confidence, the CM said the trade unions were extending support to the measures being taken.

“But, in these circumstances of the worst financial crisis, the unions should avoid strikes in the KSRTC,” he said.
