ATTEMPT TO MURDER

Accused in judicial custody

Shibin, who tried to run over a woman after she spurned his advances, was remanded in judicial custody on Monday. He was produced at the Thrissur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court as the period of police custody was over. Shibin, son of Surendran of Cherpu, had tried to stab Aligra, daughter of Karippara Sunil of Arimbur on April 14. When the attempt failed, he tried to knock her down with his car. He drove back and hit five other people who were trying to take the injured woman to the hospital. The police recovered the knife and glass shards he used to stab the woman.

Amrita, one of the injured persons, is fighting for life in a private hospital. The police could not collect her statement as she was in ventilator. She suffered severe injuries in here lungs and liver. Her mother Syamala is also undergoing treatment at the ICU at a private hospital here.

Shibin’s father Surendran, who was arrested for helping him escape, was given conditional bail.
