Cherukolpuzha, Maramon conventions next month

Various government departments will ensure all assistance for the smooth conduct of the annual religious conventions at Cherukolpuzha and Maramon, Water Resources Minister, P.J. Joseph has said.

He was talking to reporters after reviewing the government-level arrangements for the conventions at separate meetings at Maramon and Cherukolpuzha on Tuesday.

The Minister said the Kerala Water Authority would ensure uninterrupted water supply to both the convention venues and surrounding areas.Addressing the meeting at Cherukolpuzha, Mr. Joseph said the department had taken steps to clean the riverbed of Pampa.

Repair work on various roads leading to the Hindumatha Parishad venue would be completed within a week.

The convention will be held from February 1 to 8. He directed the district administration to provide e-toilet facility at the convention venue. He said Kerala State Road Transport Corporation would operate special bus services to Cherukolpuzha and Maramon during the convention period.

Kerala State Electricity Board, besides the Police and Revenue Departments, would take necessary steps for the smooth conduct of the meets.

At Maramon

Mr.Joseph said Thiruvalla Revenue Divisional Officer A. Gopakumar had been asked to coordinate the functioning of various government agencies at Maramon during the convention to be held from February 8 to 15.

Addressing the review meeting held at the Maramon Retreat Centre, he said the tarring work on the Thekkemala-Pannivelichira Road would be completed before the convention.

He said releasing of water from the Moozhiyar dam into river Pampa would be strictly regulated during the convention period. Uninterrupted supply of drinking water and electricity to the venue would be ensured.

The police would open a special aid-post at Maramon and Kozhencherry.
