The three-day Ashtamangala Devaprasnom, an astrological consultation, at the centuries’ old Mahadevar Temple at Chengannur attached to the Travancore Devaswom Board began on Friday forenoon.

The astrological consultation was conducted following increasing demand from the devotees in the wake of large scale destruction due to a whirlwind inside the temple premises a few months ago.

The whirlwind had wreaked havoc in the sprawling Mahadevar Temple premises on June 26. A giant peepul tree and many other trees were uprooted.

The senior Tantri of Thazhamon Madhom, Kandararu Maheswararu, performed the puja marking the beginning of the Devaprasnom. Kandararu Rajeevaru, Tantri, Mr. Abu, Devaswom assistant commissioner and Mr. Soman Pillai, administrative officer, were also present.

The astrological consultation was led by Mr. Irinjalakkuda Padmanabha Sharma. The three-day affair will come to a close on Sunday, according to Devaswom sources.
