The 146th birth anniversary of Kumaran Asan will be celebrated in his native village Kayikkara from April 29 to May 1.

The Asan World Prize, given by the Asan Memorial Association once in three years, will be presented to Chilean poet Raul Zurita in connection with the Asan World Prize Literary Festival.

The award comprises a purse of ₹5 lakh. The festival that began in November last will conclude on May 1.

On April 29, a national poets’ meet will be inaugurated by poet Ashok Vajpeyi.

The next day, at the Asan World Prize Meeting, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present the Asan World Prize to Mr. Zurita.

On May 1, Mr. Zurita will interact with the audience at the festival.

Media seminar

A media seminar will be held at 3 p.m. Minister for Cooperation Kadakampally Surendran will present the Asan young poet award to Sreejith Ariyalloor for his collection of 100 poems titled Palakala Kavithakal .

The award carries a purse of ₹50,000.
