In a huge embarrassment to CPI(M) in Kerala, party’s senior State leader P. Jayarajan was on Wednesday arrested in connection with the murder of Indian Union Muslim League youth wing activist Abdul Shukoor in February.
Mr. Jayarajan, Kannur district secretary, who was summoned by the police for questioning, was arrested soon after his arrival at the SP’s office and taken to a magistrate court.
He has been charged with IPC Section 118 (concealing design to commit offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life).
Abdul Shukoor, an activist of the Muslim League was murdered allegedly by CPI(M) activists at Keezhara near Kannavam in Kannur in February, 2012.
Police claimed that some of the prominent CPI(M) leaders in the district were aware of the circumstances of the murder and they had sought to harbour the culprits.
Mr. Jayarajan was accompanied by party functionaries and a large number of CPI(M) workers when he arrived at the office of the SP, who called him for the second time for questioning.
Mr. Jayarajan dubbed the charge as ‘fabricated and politically motivated’.

The culprits behind the murder of T P Chandrashekharan (RMP leader) and IUML worker Abdul Shokoor need to be booked under the rule of law and punished. Here, in the case of Kerala, especially Kannur politics, the violent action to end political oppoents had a long history. I have witnessed the greusome killing of five CPM party workers in Cheemeni area of Kasargod district nearly a decade before just a day before of state assembly election. In Kuthuparamba, five youths were become victims of police firing during a protest against the privatisation of education. It is true that the congress party put down their arms after CPM entered in the arena of retaliation. Another political section who resort violence and growing as the potential threat to the plural, democratic, secular fabrics of the civil society of Kerala is Hindutva forces. The growing popularity of Ganesha Utsav, Ashtami Utsav will sooner be start to celebrate, Sreeram sena model activities. CPM alone is the guilty.
Media Sultans of Malayalam involved in many crimes from 2G to land grabbing, patronized by Congress has been working overtime to frame CPM leaders in one or the other criminal charges. While K Sudhakaran, Congress MP from Cannanore accused of plotting the murder of EP Jayarajan another CPM leader and Basheer a Muslim League MLA charged in the double murder case roam free in state with all immunity and police protection, a mass leader like P Jayarajan is framed and arrested. The shameless cronies, coterie, sycophants and fans among the police officers, who are descendants of former ICS breed ever eager to lick the shoes of ruling class for one more star on the shoulder of the uniform continue to show their loyality by obliging unjust instruction of ruling party. The axis of Nair- Church that shamelessly received CIA funds in 1959 is reincarnated now in different form. Kerala will give a fitting reply to this political minions, pygmies and scoundrels.
Whenever there is any party cadre is being arrested by Police-then CPI(M)starts to clarify with Public that he is arrested on the ground of political interest. Instead of examine and verify for the reason of arrest, they simply find fault with action of police. No police officer ever dared to apprehend a person especially he belongs to a Political Party which is used to ruling Kerala in alternative terms-that means there is some irrefutable and concrete evidence that Kerala Police has collected for taking action against Mr. Jayarajan. Please understand that India is ruled by a well-knit Constitution and it offers lot of opportunity to her subjects to substantiate their innocence. Instead of finding fault with law enforcement Authority; asking the party cadres to restrain from destroying public property and making lawless ambiance in the state. It is high time for the Party to tell the Cadres to observe the law of nation, not being an impudent to the law of nation.
Should be locked-up forever and let this be starting of new ear where
all political criminals are sent to jail.
Hartal hartal for what? If he is Innocent let him fight it out in court
and come out. Why give poor people of Kerala more pain and suffering
with CPM harthal.
Very Good decision.Culprits has to be punished.
Kerala politics has been beseeched by mafia like system, the CPI and its cohort IUML
indulge in intimidation and murder of opponents such as the brutal killings of scores of BJP
workers. When a IUML member chopped the hands of a professor for writing some
question on prohpet none among the CPI or IUML raised a voice against the crime, now
the tables have turned.
Kannur has witnessed so many notorious political murders in the last several years. The political mafia was almost safe within the guard of thick conspiracies, like how Veerappan survived in thick forest for decades. Recession dried resources - both mental and physical. No more thick guard for these crimes were available. Big fishes in shallow water getting caught. Outcome of veteran ideologies!
Hope the Police and the Govt:shouldn't bow their Head infront of the maussle power of CPM.
