The arrest of three of the accused in the Bhaskara Karanavar murder case was recorded here on Saturday. The three - Basith Ali, Unni and Shanu Rashid were nabbed from Mookambika in Karnataka earlier this week.

According to the police, the three, who have been accused of murdering U.S. returnee Bhaskara Karanavar (65), during a pre-planned burglary attempt in his house in Cheriyanadu of Chengannur on the night of November 7, would be produced before court later on Saturday.

The three suspected to have colluded with Sherin, daughter-in-law of Karanavar for the crime, were taken to the Karanavar’s Villa in Cheriyanadu after the arrest was recorded in the Circle Inspector’s Office at Chengannur.

Sherin was arrested within two days of the murder and is under judicial custody now. The three, allegedly led by Basith Ali, had fled from the State after the murder and were reportedly shuttling from one place to another to hide from various police teams on their trail.

However, they were nabbed after the Karnataka police got suspicious of the whereabouts of the three holed up in a lodge in Mookambika. The Karnataka police then informed their Kerala counterparts and the trio was nabbed in a joint operation.
