Anganam chairman Shamsuddin dead

It promoted young writers

Anganam Samskarika Vedi chairman R.I. Shamsuddin died here following cardiac arrest on Wednesday. He was 66.

The body will be placed at the Kerala Sahitya Akademi hall for the public to pay homage on Thursday.

He is survived by wife Saraswathy, former head of the department of Malayalam, Sri Vyasa NSS College.

He started his political career through the KSU at Nattika S.N. College. Shamsuddin was KSU district president and Youth Congress district vice president.

He formed the Anganam Samskarika Vedi, a cultural organisation, in 1982.

His organisation played a vital role in promoting young writers.

He was member of the Kerala Chalachitra Akademi and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi General council.

People from various walks of life, including former Chief Ministers A.K. Antony, Oommen Chandy, Congress leaders C.N. Balakrishnam,T.N. Prathapan, and Kerala Sahitya Akademi president Vaishakhan, condoled his death.
