Amrita varsity holds workshop on virtual lab

Amrita University conducted a national workshop on Virtual Labs for the faculty to access lab experiments remotely on its Amritapuri campus on Thursday.

Virtual Labs, developed by Amritapuri University, is a project under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development. Delegates from over 70 institutes from across the country attended the workshop.

Amrita University has developed over 350 experiments as part of 43 virtual labs in disciplines such as computer science, biotechnology, mechanical engineering, physical sciences and chemical sciences.

The programme was organised by Amrita’s Virtual and Accessible Laboratories Universalizing Education team. Krishnashree Achuthan, Principal Investigator of the Virtual Labs project, said that incorporating virtual labs in science and engineering curriculum had shown tremendous benefit in grasping fundamental concepts and improving performance amongst undergraduate and postgraduate students.
