Ammathottil receives four children

November 25, 2017 08:20 pm | Updated 08:20 pm IST

The Ammathottil (cradle), set up by the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare at Thycaud here, received four children recently.

This takes the number of children received at the Ammathottil this year to 17. The boys were named Sanush and Manav and the girls Mia and Aarushi.

The council has set up 16 Ammathottil across the State to receive abandoned children. The children are then handed over to recognised adoption centres in the respective districts with the sanction of the Child Welfare Committees. By giving them up in adoption in keeping with norms, these children are rehabilitated.

Tthe council has also drawn up a programme called Thanal for children’s welfare. A toll-free number - 1517 - has also been arranged.
