An all party delegation from Kerala headed by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will meet the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday to seek resolution of the Mullaperiyar issue.

The delegation will represent the demands of the State as stated in a resolution unanimously adopted by Kerala Assembly last Friday.

The Assembly had urged the Centre and the State governments to take steps for construction of a new dam to replace the old dam on Mullaperiyar and lower the water level in the existing dam to 120 feet for safety purposes.

The resolution had also affirmed Kerala’s willingness to supply water to Tamil Nadu from Mullaperiyar at current levels.

The delegation will include Leader of the Opposition V. S. Achuthanandan and leaders of all recognised political parties from Kerala. The meeting with Prime Minister is scheduled for 12 noon.
