A.K. Padmanabhan re-elected CITU chief

A.K. Padmanabhan and Tapan Sen were re-elected president and general secretary, respectively, of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) at its 14th conference that concluded here on Monday.

Announcing the election of the 35-member secretariat of the CITU at the concluding session here, Mr. Padmanabhan said the secretariat included 20 serving members and 14 new members.

One post of secretary was left vacant for the induction of a new member.

Ranjana Nirula was re-elected treasurer of the CITU.

The other office-bearers are Sukomal Sen, K.L. Bajaj, Shyamal Chakraborty, Basudeb Acharia, A. Soundararajan, K.O. Habeeb, Mercykutty Amma, Anathalavattom Anandan, Deben Bhattacharya, Malathi Chittibabu, J.S. Majumdar, P. Roja, M. Saibabu, Raghunath Singh, Bishnu Mohanty (vice-presidents), and S. Devroye, K. Hemalata, Manik Dey, R. Sudha Bhaskar, K.K. Divakaran, Elamaram Karim, Dipak Dasgupta, S. Varalaxmi, Prasanta Nandi Chowdhury, Kashmir Singh Thakur, Ratna Dutta, G. Sukumaran, S. Prasanna Kumar, P. Nandakumar, D.D. Ramanandan, and A.R. Sindhu (secretaries).

One more secretary would be announced later, Mr. Padmanabhan said.

Among those who were left out of the CITU secretariat are M.M. Lawrence, K.N. Raveendranath, P.K. Gurudasan, Mohamed Ameen, Jeevan Roy, Kali Ghosh, T.K. Rangarajan, V.K.K. Nair, and S.V. Rekha.
