The All-India Congress Committee’s Manifesto Implementation Monitoring Committee has said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has successfully implemented a major part of the party’s manifesto. Addressing a press conference after presiding over the panel’s meeting here on Saturday, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Veerappa Moily, who is also the chairman of the committee, said the Chandy government was the best compared to that in other Congress-ruled States, and this would not have been possible without the support of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).

AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy were present at the press meet. Mr. Moily in response to a question spoke about the unity in the party and the coordination between the party and the government.

Mr. Wasnik, who is in charge of Kerala affairs, asserted that the stability of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government was under no threat, and the party and the government were working in a united manner.

Mr. Chandy stressed that he did not face any problems even for a single day despite having a slender majority in the Assembly owing to the unstinted support he got from the KPCC.
