Agri-tourism will benefit Wayanad: VC

January 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KALPETTA:

Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) Vice Chancellor P. Rajendran has said that the State should focus on developing agri-tourism projects to exploit the changing trends in the tourism sector.

He was inaugurating a seminar on the ‘Possibilities of Agri-Tourism’ at the Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) Auditorium at Ambalavayal in the district on Saturday.

A core change had been taking place in global tourism with the changing tastes of tourists.

“Tourists, especially those from abroad, prefer to enjoy the rustic culture and lush greenery of the countryside to the modern facilities in the concrete urban jungles,” he said.

The programme was organised by the KAU in association with ATMA, Wayanad, and All India Radio, Kozhikode, as part of the ongoing National Agri -Fiesta 2015.
