The police team probing the alleged blackmailing of female actor in Kochi has seized two mobile phones purportedly used by Kiran Kumar, the accused, to circulate her pictures.

The officials said the phones would be sent for forensic examination to Thiruvananthapuram. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had shot the pictures about nine years ago when they were in a relationship.

The accused, while working as a production executive, had entered into a relationship with the actor by concealing the fact that he was already married. Recently, he reportedly blackmailed her and demanded ₹75 lakh, threatening to post her pictures on social media.

The accused, employee of a private insurance firm in Kochi, has been booked under IPC sections 354 C and 67 (A) of the IT Act.

Meanwhile, the police will approach the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Ernakulam on Tuesday seeking custody of the accused. They are also coordinating with the Kerala Police Cyber Cell to trace the people who have circulated these pictures online.

The police are also investigating whether more persons are involved in the case.
