January 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - KASARAGOD:

Leader of the Opposition and Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader V.S. Achuthanandan’s scheduled to the district on Friday was deferred citing his indisposition.

Mr. Achuthanandan was to address as many as eight programmes, including in places such as Madikai, near Neeleswaram.

He was scheduled to have attended the opening of the CPI(M) club at Ravaneshwaram, near Kanhangad. Local party workers had reportedly been waiting eagerly for his upcoming visit as the veteran party leader had not attended even the campaigning for the last Lok Sabha polls in the district.

When contacted, party district unit secretary K.P. Satheesh Chandran said that Mr. Achuthanandan’s visit scheduled on Friday was deferred after his doctors advised him rest for a week.
