Achuthanandan alleges plot to keep DMRC off

September 13, 2012 02:34 am | Updated 02:34 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has asked the State government to end its “hide and seek” approach to the Kochi Metro Rail Project.

In a statement here on Wednesday, he said that, with the foundation stone for the project scheduled to be laid on Thursday, he had expected the director board of Kochi Metro Rail Limited, at its meeting on Tuesday, to take a decision with respect to the agency that should be entrusted with the execution of the work. However, the meeting did not take any decision for entrusting the work to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the overall leadership to former DMRC chief E. Sreedharan. Mr. Achuthanandan alleged that there was still a conspiracy going on to keep the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Mr. Sreedharan out of the project.
