ABVP worker hacked to death in Kannur

 An Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) worker was hacked to death by a group of masked assailants near Peravur in Kannur on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Shyam Prasad (24), a student of the Peravur Government ITI.

A native of nearby Kannavam, Shyam was hacked to death at Kommeri under the Peravur Police Station limits here at around 5-30 p.m., the police said. The police added that the youth was riding on a two-wheeler when a three-member assailants attacked him on the road near the Kommeri Goat Farm.

The wounded youth fled from the spot to escape the masked assailants and entered the compound of a nearby house. Chasing assailants caught him on the verandah of the house and hacked him with sharp weapons, the police said. He died while being rushed to hospital at Thalassery, the police said.
