The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the conspiracy behind the actor’s abduction and assault has begun ascertaining whether Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni, the key accused, had handed over the memory card that supposedly contain footage of the crime to someone at a garment shop at Kakkanad.

Official sources said the move followed a statement by Pulsar Suni that he had handed over the memory card to someone at the shop through Vijesh. As part of it, the sleuths carried out a raid at the office of the online garment shop run by a prominent female actor.

During the inspection, the police examined the CCTV footages and computers at the office, in addition to details of cash transactions. Besides the apparel store, the police also inspected a few other locations in Kochi, including an apartment at Thammanam.

The inspections followed a letter purportedly written by Pulsar Suni to Dileep, which suggested that Suni had visited the shop as he failed to meet the actor despite trying several times. Attempts are also on to decode the veracity of the letter, which changed the course of the ongoing probe.

Similarly, the police launched a probe to ascertain whether Suni had visited the shooting locations of the actor as a photograph purportedly showing the actor and Suni in a single frame had leaked out. As part of it, statements have been collected from the employees of a sports academy in Thrissur and couple of others from the film industry.

According to officials, the actor had been to the academy premises as part of his movie release. ‘‘We are yet to confirm if the person in the selfie, captured by one of the employees with the actor, is Suni,’’ the police said.

In a letter purportedly written by Suni to the actor, Suni had stated that ‘‘I haven’t revealed anything that happened between the periods of shooting Sound Thoma and Georgeettan’s Pooram to anyone.”

In a related development, the police collected statement of Fenny Balakrishnan, a lawyer, who had claimed that he was approached by two persons seeking legal aide for Pulsar Suni. ‘‘The police had the photograph of a man who had the same description as I explained. The man, who spoke in Tamil and identified himself as Manoj, had referred to a madam and I was asked about this,” Mr. Balakrishnan told media persons after the interrogation at the Aluva police club.
