Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) Kerala general secretary K.P.A. Majeed, who is leading the United Democratic Front’s northern regional political campaign rally, has said that a prominent political party in the Left Democratic Front is in touch with the UDF leadership for discussing its entry into the ruling front.

At a press conference here on the second day of the tour of the campaign rally in the district on Sunday, Mr. Majeed said a prominent party in the LDF was now holding discussions with the UDF leadership.

Without naming the party, he said the party’s leadership had let it be known that it would be willing to join the UDF if it was accorded honourable position, prestige and esteem. ‘‘My prediction will not go wrong,’’ he told reporters in response to repeated questions that sought some clues on the party in question. Mr. Majeed’s disclosure came a day after he reportedly said at Iritty here on Saturday that the Communist Party of India (CPI) would have to join the UDF fold soon.
