It is true that K.G. George has not received as much attention he has deserved. Those who know cinema really well, know what George’s contribution to Malayalam films is, but I feel he should have been more celebrated.
I have worked with him in 10 films, from his first ( Swapnadanam ) to his latest ( Ilavankodu Desham ). He is undoubtedly one of the finest filmmakers in Indian cinema.
I was his batch-mate at the Pune film institute; we had even written the entrance examination together. Even before he made Swapnadanam , I knew that he was going to make it big as a director.
He is a meticulous director and has a remarkable eye for details. He researched deeply for his scripts and would not be satisfied until he got the best shot; often there would be several retakes while we shot.
