A fight for life: SJ(D)

December 03, 2011 08:37 pm | Updated November 17, 2021 12:06 am IST - KARINKULAM CHAPPATHU:

Socialist Janata (Democratic) leader M.P. Veerendrakumar said that he hoped for a peaceful solution to the Mullaperiyar issue.

Announcing his support to the agitation for a new dam here on Saturday, Mr. Veerendrakulmar said that on one side it was a fight for livelihood while on the other, it was a fight for life. The fight should not be construed as against the people of Tamil Nadu. Even the people of Tamil Nadu could join the agitation since it was protecting lives, he said.

Nowhere in the State had an agitation gone on for so long. It was genuine concern that sustained the agitation, which had not culminated in a mass movement.
