For three days from Thursday, the SBT-CREDAI Property Expo 2016, the largest property trade fair in Kerala organised by Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI), will help guide those who aspire to own villas and apartments in the city in the way they want and at the place they want.

The fair was formally opened by Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.K. Prasanth on Thursday in the presence of State Bank of Travancore (SBT) Managing Director C.R. Sasikumar. In his inaugural address, the Mayor says such expos of apartment builders gain relevance, as suitable land for housing is getting scarce across the State. Further, vertically growing apartments are more liked by youngsters and suggested the builders to be more vigilant in matching the promised delivery specifications.

The State government is contemplating integrating with the Prime Minister’s Avaaz Yojna and the city Corporation too will formulate housing policies in similar lines for which the Mayor requests the support of all builders. Mr. Sasikumar has lauded the CREDAI for having brought down all the major builders under one umbrella with own set of rules and code of conduct and for promulgating ideas of green and energy-efficient building solutions.

Electricity, water and waste management are better managed in a flat environment, he says. M.P. Pradeep, senior manager with Cera, an official sponsor of the expo, also spoke.

SBT, the principal sponsors of the event, has come out with varied loan products suiting one’s income pattern. Home aspirants through the CREDAI show shall be benefitted by on-the-spot loan approvals by SBT and not be charged with any processing fees. SBI, LIC Housing Finance, HDFC, India Bulls, and Sundaram Finance are among the financial institutions participating in the event. The trade event, which is officially sponsored by Cera, one of the leaders in sanitary wares, features the participation of the State’s 26 most reputed builders based in the city showcasing their over 100 villas and apartment projects of varying attributes and price brackets.

Financial concerns

Presence of major banking and non-banking institutions at the fair is expected to address the financial concerns of the customers.

Expos like this are indicators of a corrected market and help for a healthy revival, says S.N. Raghuchandran Nair, national vice-president, CREDAI. As no more corrections are plausible, this is the right time for one to invest in realty, says Nair.

As the real estate industry is globally passing through a dull patch, the expo gains relevance, as it urges the prospective buyers for wise and timely investments that too at never-offered realistic prices.

Expos done by professional bodies like CREDAI is more trust worthy, as it has only genuine builders with decades of standing in the real estate industry, says V.S. Jayachandran of Mansions.

The fair, which marks the presence of all reputed builders and property developers, enables instant comparison and makes it a one-stop-shop for both who look for a long-term realty investment or those who are in dire need of a quality dwelling space.

Interactions with experts will help garnering the current trends to zero-in on an ideal home that suits one’s budget. Many of the builders and banking institutions offer attractive gifts and special offers for bookings made at the property show.

The three-day fair, which is open for public, between 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. shall conclude on Sunday.
