UDF boycotts NavaKerala programme

January 21, 2017 08:59 pm | Updated 08:59 pm IST - Thrissur:

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is trying to make the democratic decentralisation programme to centralised programme, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) was trying to continue corruption in the name of People’s Planning. The UDF boycotted the inauguration of the ‘People’s Planning for NavaKerala’ programme.

Mr. Chennithala said he was not informed about the details till Friday evening.

“The government is wasting people’s money in the name of NavaKerala programme. When there are venues such as KILA (Kerala Institute of Local Administration), why should waste money to build such a venue at Thekkinkadu maidan?” he asked.

The government was trying to mix communist politics in the People’s Planning seminars, he alleged.

Meanwhile, the police stopped a protest march by the Opposition councillors of the Thrissur Corporation to the venue of the NavaKerala programme.
