Nayana Reji, a student of SMV Higher Secondary School, Poonjar, Kottayam, has made it to the outstanding category among the 15 projects shortlisted at the National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) which began at Baramathi on December 27.
Her study on the influence of moon phases on cultivation and harvesting was adjudged an outstanding project at the hotly contested national event. The project was done under the guidance of V. Pyarilal, high school assistant, SMV Higher Secondary School.
Another project presented by C.S. Malavika, DVM NNM Higher Secondary School, Maranelloor, Thiruvananthapuram, was listed among the best 30 projects selected in the NCSC, a press note issued by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) said.
As many as 16 students representing different schools in Kerala selected from the State-level Children’s Science Congress participated in the national-level programme representing Kerala. According to Kamalakshan Kokkal, State programme coordinator, the students’ teams selected for their outstanding projects at the NCSC would be provided the opportunity for an all-expense-paid three-week training at an institute of their choice in India.
The KSCSTE is the State co-ordinating agency for conducting and coordinating National Children’s Science Congress in the State.
