The 30-hour Thrissur Pooram celebrations concluded on Thursday afternoon with the ‘Upacharam Cholli Piriyal’ ceremony in front of the Vadakkunnathan temple.
Idols of Paramekkavu Bhagavathy and Thiruvambady Bhagavathy were taken back to respective temples from the Thekkinkadu Maidan in the farewell ceremony.
Some of the events of the pooram such as Kooti Ezhunnellippu and Kudamattom were re-enacted on Thursday.
Processions carrying idols of deities were taken to Sree Vadakkunnathan Temple in the morning.
While elephant Thiruvambadi Sivasundar carried Thiruvambadi Bhagavathy’s idol, elephant Devidasan carried idol of Paramekkavu Bhagavathy. A huge crowd witnessed the main fireworks that was held around 3 a.m. on the concluding day, called ‘Desakkarude Pooram’.
