3 children washed away at sea, one boy died in hospital

One boy died and two others were still missing after they were washed away while playing in the waters of the estuary near the seashore at Ettikkulam Palammode near Pazhayangadi here on Saturday.

The mishap occurred when the three children, aged 13, went to the estuary area in the afternnoon and started playing in the water. All the three were washed away while they were swimming in the estuary, the police said.

All the boys were hailing from Muttam near Pazhayangadi and studying in the Jamat School at Puthingadi. One of the boys, identified as Sahad, son of Sayeed Abid, died at the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital after he was rescued from the waters.

Two others, identified as C. Junaid, son of Abdulla and Muhammad were still missing.

Local people assisted by Fire and Rescue Service personnel were searching for the missing boys.
