As many as 17,029 petitions have been received by the district administration for ‘Karuthal 2015,’ the Chief Minister’s mass contact programme in Kollam scheduled for May 11.
District Collector A. Kowsigan directed the officers concerned to acknowledge receipt of petitions in a time-bound manner.
The highest number of petitions pertained to inclusion in the BPL list, 5,634. For monetary help from the Chief Minister’s relief fund, 4,293 applications had been received, district administration sources said.
The Collector had instructed officials to not reject petitions which did not carry the petitioner’s phone number. The screening committee would be convened on April 30.
Petitions may be submitted free-of-cost through Akshaya Centres. If any Akshaya Centre demanded fee, strong action, including cancellation of the licence, would be taken, Dr. Kowsigan said.
Petitioners who sought monetary aid for medical treatment through the programme should submit the original medical certificate and other relevant documents at the respective village office by April 20, he said.
