April 04, 2013 02:39 am | Updated 02:39 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The Kerala police on Wednesday sent back 15 Pakistani prisoners to their country.

The Coast Guard had detained the Pakistani citizens, all fishermen, when their vessels inadvertently ventured into the Indian waters off Lakshadweep in January.

Special diet

They were lodged at the Central Prison, Poojappura, here. Prison officials said the fishermen were allowed a special diet and given ample facilities for religious requirements. They were allowed to contact their consulate officials and through them their families in Pakistan.

The men left for the Wagah border under police escort in an early morning train.
