Arvind Kejriwal along with disabled people on Friday marched towards the Prime Minister’s residence demanding dismissal of Law Minister Salman Khurshid and his arrest following allegations by India Against Corruption (IAC) of financial irregularities in a trust run by him.

The activist had sought time from the Prime Minister but his office refused to give him and the disabled people an appointment, Mr. Kejriwal said.

The march was organised by Rashtriya Vikalang Party and supported by Kejriwal-led IAC.

The march started from Janpath but was prevented by police after 100 metres at Rajpath crossing.

“Mr. Khurshid has insulted the office of Law Minister. B.R. Ambedkar was once in this seat. A case should be registered against Mr. Khurshid and his wife. Till he is declared innocent, he should be out of the Cabinet,” he said.

“Both Mr. Khurshid and his wife are very powerful people. They will be able to cleanse the evidence. They can put pressure on witnesses. They should be arrested to prevent this,” Mr. Kejriwal said.

Mr. Kejriwal said, “Now let’s make this place another Tahrir Square (centre of anti-regime protests in Egypt). Now people should take leave and join the protest. Now it’s a fight to finish. Prime Minister will have to meet us and accept our demands. Mr. Khurshid has to resign. He should be arrested,” he said.

An IAC spokesperson said they would continue their dharna till the PM meets them or Mr. Khurshid resigns.

Acting on the request of the Law Minister’s wife Louise Khurshid, Uttar Pradesh government has begun the process of verifying the handicapped welfare examination report of Zakir Hussain Trust run by the couple for 2009-2010.

In a communication to Louise Khurshid on October 3, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav told her that he has forwarded her letter in this regard to the chief secretary of the State’s Handicapped Welfare Department and she will be apprised of the action taken there of.

Mr. KhurshId’s wife on Thursday came out with a strong denial saying the allegation is “devoid of any merit, and is false, malicious and baseless”.

In a statement, she said she herself had requested the UP Chief Minister on September 17 to conduct an inquiry so that “truth is revealed and it is established that the trust has not forged the signatures of any officers of the State of UP”.

In the beginning, the God created heaven and Earth,

And mountains, humans, rivers and trees of massive girth.

But the inquisitive humans wanted to explore,

And try to satiate their growing hunger for more.

But still, each character was happy to be a part of God’s gig,

To be a hunter or hunted, whatever they wanted, I don’t give a fig.

But a sadder sight you might not have seen,

Then the bovine faces of the Indian politicians who grew large bellies
and attitudes mean.

Oh yah, they had flabby muscles as they never exercised,

Nor did they do some honest amount of work as they were never

They swatted aside R.T.I. applicants like flies,

While they bonded over or snapped coalition ties.

Surely in the process they had amassed huge wealth,

But they weren’t happy as they weren’t in their best of spiritual

There was no one to play with in this whole wide world,

As the people they met, in their presence cowered.

And so God created Arvind Kejriwal,

And instigated frenetic activity in the lives of politicians all.

He constantly pounded them over corruption charge,

And the politicians smiled giddily as they finally had a playmate that
did not fear their personas large.

From flabby muscles, they now have six packs,

Ready to counter the jibes, allegations and flack.

And so the world is back at being happy and hearty again.

A movement that started with fairly honest intentions now smacks of cheap publicity or is it a misinformed Kejriwal playing BJP's B-team tactics? Such a waste of public time and money with media's almost daily running commentary of Kejriwal's "issues" which may turn out to be non-issues.

All "golmaal" takes place in name of a "Trust" - common practice ! It must be made clear that Trust accounts are open and anybody can have access to it under RTI - even if registered as Private trust- many take advantage and corner "donations" and live "off" the funds generated !

Its unfortunate that the politicians try to loot the looted. To call them
wolves would be insulting the animals and praising the politicians.

Seems to be the case where Lousie got wind of the impending expose last month, and hastened to prempt any investigation. Seems very, very suspicious - I would question the motive for her letter to investigate.

Why can't they just come clean and explain the forgeries, etc. The fact that they are not doing that seems to point out that they either were plain obvlious, or something more sinister.

Finally, Kurshid's "threaten the messenger" approach is just sickening - cannot believe that's coming from someone of the stature of the law minister.
