The execution of Ajmal Kasab, which follows the hanging of Dhananjoy Chatterjee in 2004, is believed to be the second-quickest trial-to-execution case in the country.
While it took three years to decide on the fate of Ramchandra alias Raoji, a resident of Banswara in Rajasthan who was awarded the death sentence for the murder of his family, Kasab was hanged just a few days short of the fourth anniversary of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
As per official data provided by RTI activist Subhash Agrawal, Raoji was executed on May 4, 1996, three years after killing five persons, including his pregnant wife and three children.
In 1996, the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence awarded to him by a sessions court in 1994. In March 1996, President Shankar Dayal Sharma rejected his mercy plea within six days of the petition being put before him. He was hanged on May 4, 1996.
Kasab was hanged almost four years after he, along with nine other terrorists, attacked various locations in Mumbai on November 26, 2008.
Significantly, President Pranab Mukherjee took an out-of-turn decision in rejecting Kasab’s plea as at least 14 other petitions, including that of the Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru, were pending with the President as of October this year.
Chatterjee was convicted for the murder of 14-year-old Hetal Parekh on March 5, 1990 at her apartment in Bhowanipur, West Bengal.
Earlier, serial killer Auto Shankar was executed in Salem, Tamil Nadu, in 1995.
Sources in the government said the President had returned seven mercy petitions, including that of Afzal Guru, for the consideration of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Normal procedure
However, it has been termed a normal procedure for President to refer all pending mercy petitions for the consideration of a new Home Minister.
Notably, the Home Ministry, as well as the Delhi government, had recommended that Afzal Guru’s mercy petition, filed by his wife, be rejected by the President.

Giving Kasab death by hanging was the most humane of all options
available. I wonder what the amnesty international said when these
monsters went out shooting in my city. They deserve no amnesty. Their
crimes were too horrific to afford a milder punishment. People who
advocate that these people not be executed simply don't understand how
this situation is different from that of the others (where I am okay
with abolishing capital punishment).
These terrorists cannot be reformed after years and years of being
brainwashed in the doctrine of hatred.
There being scope to reform Kasab is all tall talk. The hanging will act
as adeterrent to other such persons. Why Amnesty International was not
so voiceferous in denouncing the hanging of Saddam. That trial was
finished by US in the matter of days. Terrorism has to be fought and
such hangings are one of the ways. A sense of fear needs to be infused in
the minds of potential killers.
People (Children, women, old aged indian nationals) killed by Kasab were not HUMANS??
Amnesty International, please get a life and work for people who really need your help and sympathy...you know the homeless kinds who do not have food, shelter, education, clean drinking water or the helpless women and children or maybe save the environment. there are hundreds of things that require urgent attention, a terrorist's human right to live and reform not being one of them. preach your human rights in London maybe, where you see one terrorist attck in ten years. India isn't the place. ajmal kasab was poor and only a puppet and was driven to commit such a henieous act. well, most of them are. so are we supposed to feel sorry for them if they go on a rampage and kill hundreds of innocent people in such a manner? we live in a country that sees a terrorist attack every other day and preaching human rights of a terrorist caught on camera (i'm not talking about the doubtful cases) is like barking up the wrong tree.
Though kasab is the puppet of anti-social elements,he should be hanged
fo the crime ha has done.killing a life for the prosperity of the
society is an acceptable equation in the civil society.not only
kasab,
the terrorists involved in the samjhota express blasts, malegaon, mecca
masjid, ajmer blasts, should be brought to the notice of the court and
their crime should be proved like what happened in kasab's case and
they should be hanged. No body should use the name of god for terrorism
as no god has preached the killings. This punishment will send signals
to those who sought religion as a tool against humanity.Human rights
activists should take up the issue of fake encounters against
innocents ,happening in our country, rather than opposing capital
punishment to the proved criminal.
HR activists don't seem to know where to put their noses in. They don't seem to condemn the acts of terrorism where people who are brainwashed go around killing innocent people, including children. Amnesty International had its mouth shut when Kasab and his like went around rampaging Mumbai. What about the right of life of all the people they killed? What about the taxpayers money, which they work so hard to earn, that is given to feed these criminals? Amnesty international should stop talking nonsense.
I strongly contest Mr Selvaraj Murugaiyan's opinion that "there was scope to reform the convict through rigorous imprisonment". I vaguely remember Mahatma Gandhi's opinion that dogs that have become mad due to rabies have to be killed and cannot be saved or reformed.
Freedom of speech is the most abused and misused right in India. These so called Human Rights activists are just lime-light seekers and nothing more.
Women get raped and murdered, people in some slums use water from the same tank for consumption and other purposes, untouchability is still prevalant in many parts of India, dowry system, female foeticide and there are many such gross violations of a human being's right to live a free, healthy and fair life. Our HR activists are not bothered about such things because fighting for these causes does not give them the lime-light. Instead they wait for an execution of a terrorist or a rapist to raise the voice. For a man who shot at unarmed innocent people killing and injuring them death penalty is completely justified and absolutely correct. My request to these activists, please go out into the society and try to fight for solving real problems instead of making such useless statements.
If home ministry recommend rejection of mercy petition to president on Oct16 and President reject the petition on Nov5, how come R.R.Patil saying execution fixed on Sep 11 itself? Is this a typo or Operation X well planned from Sep 11 while the mercy plea is still under president review?
//Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde signed the file and the communication reached the State government by November 8. Maharashtra Home Minister R.R. Patil said the date for execution was fixed by the State government on September 11 itself.
What do the writer means by saying that India is going a step backward?? Boss, it is all about justice. 166 people have been died did we argue so much about their death. What happened to human rights that time? Even when you hurt an animal you get a punishment under law. Then what is the punishment for killing 166 people. Is it keeping him in prison and teaching him values with good food & place to sleep with our tax money.
Like we have accepted the fact that 166 people have been killed. Same way accept the fact that he his killed. Don’t have unnecessary debate on human rights to make money and create a celebrity status for a killer.
Why is the word "Gunman" mentioned in this story and many times in other news channels by the Indian media? This guy was a killing machine who butchered innocents on some spurious cause. I can understand Western media for using the terms "Gunman" (when victims are from non-white, non-Western background) and "Terrorist" (when victims are from Western background), but the Indian media using this word "Gunman" completely baffles me.
Kasab was guilty, of which there is no doubt. But guilt does not
equate to punishment by death. We should be civilized and recognize
that human beings do not have the moral right to visit death upon
other human beings. We should recognize that neither does the state
have the right to do so.
This is a moral stand and it has nothing to do with the enormity of
Kasab's crime, which we all recognize to be enormous. Punishment by
death does not make us better human beings than Kasab. It does not
make us more moral. It does not bring the dead back to life. It does
not correct a wrong.
Abolish the death penalty. Abolish it now.
All are equal in the eyes of the law but some are more equal than others.
The death penalty is sad, but we do live in a terrible world. The Oklahama bomber, Timothy Mcveigh, was also executed in the U.S. on terrorism charges, so its kind of unfair for Amnesty International to say that India is backward in that regard.
In the case of the U.S. bomber too, the trial and execution were very fast, unlike normal death penalty cases there, which take more than 20 years from verdict to the actual execution.
Killing a terrorist is sad, but killing of innocent men, women and children is even sadder.
Once again you have shown the unyielding sense of unbiased journalism
in covering the news pertaining to Ajmal Kasab. I must praise the
fairness of the words used in all reports published on his death
sentence, which was way beyond (in my opinion) than any other Indian
and Western media.
The punishment came as a justice and solace to the pain suffered by
all Indians during the black hours of 26/11 and later. Even though the
news gave a sense of relief across the nation, we must not forget that
there may be many Kasab(s) and Guru(s) getting ready to wage war
against India. They may be hidden in our own soil or getting ready in
our neighboring country, whose future is full of darkness. It is
time for our government, security and intelligence agencies to
re-examine their flaws and fill any loophole in our maritime security,
so that we can prevent completely or act rapidly during such terror
incidents in future.
Kasab's hanging should act as a warning to other terrorists. But what
about the main culprits who motivated him to commit the brutal murders?
I do not support the death penalty...but for certain heinous acts it might be justified. I don't know! I wonder how this young man, who must have been a boy once, and probably played cricket and with toys, laughing, singing, hoping and dreaming, become such an "uni dimensional man with nothing but murder in his mind"? How did a family, community, culture or a country create such a man...or loose one they had to such heinous acts?
I cannot imagine!
Any family, community and country that produces such a man must ask, "What did we do wrong? Shame on us...we have to do some serious soul searching and serious evolving".
And much support to innocent Indians who lost their lives and their lives who must live with that loss, grief and trauma for the rest of their lives. They deserve every kindness in our heart and support in our actions.
where were the human rights activists in 26 nov. what have you done for
the families whose sons and daughters were ruthlessly murdered by this
beast. you -human rights act have no rights to talk here. Indian
govt should nab and hang those terrorists . It's a late tribute to those
families .but justice is served .
India of Mahatma Gandhi has lost its soul. India a country that
coined the words such as ahimsa, maitree, has gone down the same path
as other uncivilized countries which carry out judicial murder.
Killing a human being in cold blood, in a deliberate intentional act,
cannot happen in a civilized country.
It is true Kasab was a terrorist and carried out a monstrous and
cowardly act. But the punishment for that is not an eye for an eye,
but compassion and rehabilitation of the culprit.
By hanging Kasab, the State has come down to the same level as the
criminal.
The manner in which Kasab was hanged raises more questions than
answers.
It is hard to believe Home Minister's Version that The PM was unaware
of the Hanging. If the PM was unaware how did the High Commissioner
deliver the information on Kasab's Hanging to Pakistan before he was
hanged.
Did the home ministry inform Indian High Commissioner without
informing the external affairs minister and the prime minister ?
Did the Home Ministry Inform the High Commissioner thro the external
affairs minister without informing the prime minister ?
Did the External Affairs Minister act without informing the prime
minister ?
It looks like the Government is Hiding Something.
There is nothing glorious about the hanging of Kasab. He was only the
weapon which has been destroyed, but the real brains and Culprits who
planned this are still at large and may never be caught. As long as
there are plenty of poor kids who suffer in poverty who do not have
future , this will only repeat as there are certain evil powers who
will brainwash them and make them do similar dastardly acts by paying
them money. Looks like these attacks were very carefully planned
overseas maybe with some local help for some political/geopolitical
motives & we may never know the truth behind this.
I'm no conspiracy theorist, however, I don't believe that kasab has not only been hanged but
buried as well and that even within the jail premises within an hour. The video of the same, if
there is any as claimed by some news channels, should be made public like in the case of
saddam hussain, and till then I would not believe it.
For those quoting Gandhi, another irony is that Gandhi was once incarcerated in the same
prison by the british.
A little consolation at a whopping cost of 29.5 crore. The biggies are
still roaming free and India is yet not able to get them. How much has
our intelligence improved since 2008? Another thought: Why 21/11 and not
26/11 for the execution?
The government has finally given the victims of the terror attacks some taste of justice. But citizens of India must remember that this does not call for festivities. It is now up to us to show some sensibility and act with humanity, even if it is against an inhumane terrorist like Kasab. Justice wins - end of story. Lets just treat it like that's what has been happening all the time!
So it finally happened. Pity had they done it earliest some of that money could have been saved....a colossal 29.5 crores were reported to have been spent protecting that monster, not to speak of feeding him biryani….
Are we going to believe what media and politicians are saying?? there was enough secrecy before the hanging of kasab and now when he is dead why aren't they showing any proof like pictures of the body taken for the records or anything to prove that he is dead. don't we deserve to see his dead body. or do We've to file an RTI to see the proofs.
None can celebrate any one's death but the country has tried to send some message across the world about its convictions. For decades we are with a 'soft nation' tag which has made even our 'small neighbours' look down upon our people and the country. If we are not united in our thinking and acts and behave in a manner that invites criticism from our hostile neighbours, enough inimical forces are waiting to exploit such situations. Let us be united and walk ahead leaving the bickerings of the past behind.
Strong message for those sponsoring and involved in it. But what is the
point. They are ready to kill themselves anyway. I would rather keep
him jailed life long with hard labor, "reverse brain wash" him and make
him speak in media, so that other youngsters won't take this up again.
I am very sorry to say this but there is every chance that Kasab died by
dengue.
The Best action would have been to put him in jail for ever, you dont get back the life's of the innocent by putting him to death. Capital punishment does not prove anything, after few days everyone forgets.
At least now, the resources- money, security personnel, etc. spend
recklessly in "protecting" Kasab can be utilized in some productive work
towards the nation(hopefully).
Good riddance.
I just wish they had done this within a more reasonable timeframe without having to spend crores protecting this inhuman disgraceful creature.
Kasab is done , but when are we going to hang killers of Rajiv Gandhi
who have been languishing in jail for years now.Why Govt is dragging its
feet on this issue.
Combined loss of life in terror attack outweighs life lost in war in India. It is time that this Govt stud up for its citizens.
Jai Hind.
Good riddance to bad rubbish. However two questions:
1.Is the hanging related to the ire the govt is facing over Coalgate,
2G, a vote looming in Parliament and the start of the campaign for 2014?
2.Why was close to 30 crores spent on Kasab? Has an average Indian ever
seen Rs 30 crores in his entire life? Was he worth more than the average
Indian?
We should make sure that his name doesn't linger around for long; we don't want his name to go into any of our history books.
I am sad to read the hawkish comments appearing in this page expressing
happiness over Ajmal's hanging. I do share the sorrow of the victims of
Mumbai 26/11. But, remember Ajmal was actually kid when he committed
the crime. What would have been our reaction if he were a kin of ours?
India is the land of Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi. We are a democratic
country. It is high time that we abolished capital punishment.
A mere pawn in the hands of bigger players he may have been, but he
fired an automatic at unarmed civilians including mothers carrying
babies. And to attribute his poverty and illiteracy for his actions
is to insult the billions of poor and uneducated peoples worldwide
who have chosen to live a life of dignity in reconciliation with
their condition and not chosen to pick up an automatic for a few
million bucks.
Good riddance.
Kasab last words were
Allah kasam, aisi galati dobara nahi hogi (I swear by Allah, I will never commit such a mistake again)
I hope no other person will do such a crime again.
Though, I appreciate for bring the Mumbai episode to an end I believe
there is nothing to celebrate over the death of any person. Yes, Mr.
Kasab's crime is egregious and more of the master mind behind the entire
episode who brainwashed people like Kasab to attack India. If real
justice is to be meted out it is not by hanging Kasab but by preventing
the further Kasab's by eliminating the masterminds behind... So far,
there are no progress in that direction...
Thanks for the quick(really ?) decision after spending crores of rupees. A cost saver and face saver indeed.
Hanging of Kasab will really send a strong message to the perpetrators of 26/11 attack and the country sponsoring terrorism to India.
Alas! it is a death of human being. According to gandhiji, hate the sin, not the sinner. The criminals & terrorists should be reformed & given time to become a good human being. The second protocol of International Covenant on civil & political rights adopted in 1989 aims at abolition of death penalty. Capital punishment must be abolished because the life is not given by anyone so anyone has no right to take the life of the person. India, the land of gandhi and budhha must look forward to abolish death penatly.
Only severe punishment will bring down the crimes. The capital punishment should be made applicable to those facing prosecutions under corrupt cases also.
It is good that he was hanged for his terrible crime. However, there is no to celebrate his hanging. India is a civilized country and the law took its course.
Good news for country. Strong message for those sponsoring and involved in it. Hope we continue with this, without any vested interest!
Swift and secret action on Kasab is really a welcome news. But there are equally dangerous violators, worse than kasab who have wronged the very country they live in. Those are the criminals who need to be executed because what is worse than crime on your enemy is crime on own. These Indian criminals have betrayed their own nation. Will justice prevail there too?
Comments like - " He is a pawn, he is brain washed, he is a foot soldier" I do not understand at all. He is a ruthless cruel killer involved in a carnage of not less than 170 people. I think who ever has spoken all these crap above would not have done the same if they have lost one of their own. Indian government has finally shown guts and we are not a soft state. We punish our enemies.
Though it was a deep deep pain that one received the news regarding the hanging of Kasab, considering the dare-devil attack on the financial capital of the Country, in which many innocent lives were lost, the capital punishment meted out on Kasab which indeed was in line with the verdict of the Apex Court was but a way to bring the 26/11/2008 case to its logical conclusion. Immediately after the Supreme Court came out with its verdict that Kasab be hanged, there were debates and discussions for and against the verdict. It was also rumoured as to what will happen to the case when it goes for the Presidential pardon. But the news about hanging of Kasab came as a bolt from the blue for the people of the country, for, no information as to the rejection of the mercy petition by the President was available. By keeping under its wraps, the Union government has indeed handled the case adroitly which otherwise would have provided the grist to the rumour mills changing the course,
Justice Done!!! All are celebrating !! He united all the people from different religion, caste, tribes . also one thing to be noticed that he was suffering from 'Dengu' & might be he was uncurable. Great Congress!! Finally You have done something good.
Crime is a heinous act regardless of its intensity... If the law goes
with the principle 'EYE FOR AN EYE' then why only AZMAL KASAB??? just
because he is a PAKISTANI
The prayer before the Hon'ble Court is to pass the same order for the
wrongdoers in NARODA-PATIYA Massacre... can the 'Just Law' of this
'Unbiased nation' take this step?
waiting for that day...
Proud to be an Indian. Ajmal Kasab had a fair and swift trial. Lets not forget, justice delayed is justice denied. Its a warning to all terrorist, don't mess with India.
For all those thing "Justice is served", Kasab was just a poor guy, recruited and brainwashed to wage a highly sophisticated war on a country. He was just an arrow, the real justice will be served only if we hunt the real perpetrator - his leaders and bring them to justice.
I 'm not in favour of the capital punishment.
Was there any chance of putting him into prison for rest of his life?
As you sow, so shall you reap. He got what he deserved. Killing of innocent people cannot be justified irrespective of their religion, nationality ,race etc. This is a small step in right direction. Hafiz Saeed and his cohorts are still running free. They should be brought to justice, and they should meet the same fate as Kasab.
It is a big relief and justice delayed and not denied.
This should have been carried out much more swiftly. Any more mercy petition relating to terrorists which are pending should be rejected expeditiously and justice renedered.
So far India has failed miserably to give a clear message to the terrorists. This seems to be the first such message.
Also, there was always a risk that a plane will be hijacked or a person kidnapped and a ransom (Kasab be freed) claimed in return for the release of the hostage. At least that has been averted.
The act has got several angles to be looked at.First, apart from the execution of Kasab, what measures has the govt taken in the direction of enhancing national security and infrastructure on the coasts to prevent illegal immigration? Second, have an idea that the action comes in the wake of Gujarat all important assembly elections.Third, what has been achieved on the front of the real perpetrators, the masterminds and the accused who helped them in India? Fourth, what about the execution of Afzal guru and hundreds(about 500) of other mercy petitions? Don't get carried away by emotions.I agree to the core that the execution of Kasab is a bold and positive forward one.But also have a look at other dimensions of the act.
I am totally against capital punishment. What you cannot give, you cannot take away.
A rich tribute to the innocents who lost their lives due to handiwork of these terrorists. Though their lives were lost, their souls were weeping and searching for justice which their near and dear (includes all Indians) could not hear. It is Judiciary that can set right this injustice and today's morning news is a moment of solace for the souls.
The execution of Ajmal Kasab will tell The entire world , india is purly
republic decamaratic country. Ajmal travelled to india not to live only
to die. it was decided by pakistan 4 year back when they send him to
india. But it s delayed to inform world that nothing in india goes
againt law and constitution provision. proud to be indian
The timing seems to be a little awry.We have the winter session of the
Parliament due in 24 hours and a lame duck Government dysfunctional for
the past 12 months.
Last week he was supposed to be suffering from dengue fever and now this
secrecy in hanging.Too many questions and no answer.
The real criminals at large while the ignorant foot soldier got hanged. It might send a message to those poverty ridden population that it is not safe to take on such jobs in the future. However, man with the money and might would still find recruits for any heinous act such as the Mumbai massacre!
I couldn't avoid thinking of ASI Tukaram Omble and Major Unnikrishnan.
The government showed maturity in putting an end to this trial, now they
should tenaciously pursue the remaining culprits.
I do not take glee in it -- but I have no sympathy for murderer.
The timing of Kasab's execution seems rather well timed - it presents an
emotional outlet for the pent-up energy of the Shiv Sena.
Justice done !!! and I agree with Indian Gov for keeping him alive till all info was gathered from him. But, we should respect this person for one reason - he reunited Indians belonging from all region, language, religion, caste, classes, to fight against the evils, else there are many within India who are ruling by just dividing !!
He should have been kept alive for a few years as he can provide
valuable input in counter-terror investigations. Irresponsible political
elements have pressurized the government into this hasty act.
Kasab is hanged ! and there is hell lot of jubiliations going around
in all the social networking sites. But its time to rethink, has
justice been granted by mere hanging of kasab..he was a mere puppet in
the hands of real preprators of this henious crime and they have
washed their hands off and escaped law..Remember Kasab came there on
that fateful day getting ready to be killed..so this was just his
death has been prolonged..This should not end here,we have the right
to know in detail who were behind people like kasab and they should be
brought before law and punished..and then only justice is
served..otherwise it will be a mere covering up!!
Otherwise Thousands of youth in our country and accross the world ,
are vulnerable to brain washing at the hands of "real culprits".Such
sabotages will continue for sure..and how many kasabs will we hanged??
The real cause needs to be dealt and uprooted.I personally feel Kasab
was an ignorant victim and his death wont bring the desired justice!!
While it pains one to hear about the hanging of Kasab, such a punishment would serve as an eye opener. One would also appreciate the speed with which the the sentence was carried out.
It is morally reprehensible that any human should suffer the ultimate punishment in the hands of his fellow beings. In the land of Gandhi, an eye for an eye seems to be the way of administering justice, after all we even hanged the Mahatma's killers. On the other side of the coin, if Kasab had been shot and killed like his fellow jihadis, we may not have found that so repulsive. nevertheless let him be the last person to be hanged in India. At the risk inviting the ire of many, may I wish his departed soul some peace which sadly it never had in life.
I am glad that Governments at Central & State had overcome their normal inertia to do something. And it will save the treasury funds spent in his security & prison(ing). Beyond that I am not sure what this achieves. The crime perpetrators from across the border & wider world are prepared and glad to loose their life anyways. May the victims of 26/11 soul RIP.
Kasab was a weapon, used by terrorists and then by politicians. Victims are we people!
It is a bold step for a country like India, which is called a soft
power state. But, it again provides air to the debate of Death
penalty, as the countries having death penalty hasn't witnessed any
decline in terrorist activities. As death kills you once but rigorous
imprisonment provides you an opportunity to introspect every moment
you spent in jail. In the land of non-violence and peace, death
penalty is hugely contested and debated topic. But it is also said
that citizens (mostly general public) in a developing country like
India are not mature enough to understand the thin lines between
putting a culprit like a deadly terrorist into the frame of moral
behavior, this general public clearly understands in terms of
punishment. So this step of hanging of kasab should be a step towards
realizing that particular philosophy of non-violence and peace in the
land of Gandhi. But definitely, this bold step will re-frame India's
image as a powerful nation, who will not succumb to terrorism.
One important question is whether the due process of law was followed
in this case or not?
The secrecy that surrounded the whole execution only adds to the suspicion and though the government's argument that it was needed on
account of this case being so sensitive holds considerable merit yet
it definitely goes against the spirit of justice.
Beside timing of the execution also suggests that it could have been
fixed to help the government and if this was the case , it definitely
asks for condemnation for politics must be kept away from such
sensitive issues as well.
He was a mere pawn in the hands of true evil, that has so far, and
may eventually go scot free. He was illiterate, poor, and
brainwashed. Nothing will change because of this, except perhaps
Pakistan may 'retaliate' by hanging some Indian prisoner languishing there.
There is nothing to celebrate in another life snuffed out.
Justice done democratically!!!
After a long wait, people got justice!!This course of action taken by the govt will definitely assuage the families who lost their dear ones.By executing him, India has portrayed its bold picture to the world to warn terrorists. Although it has come so late, but we are at least content that,it has come. The people who died fighting terror on that night will now RIP.
Right climax to the sordid epiosode! Kudos to the Judiciary specially the Supreme Court and the President of India.
Yes..Better Late than Never..
Justice is served.... May the souls of his victims rest in peace now....
Finally victims and martyrs of the 26/11 got justice.
In situations like this killing maybe justified. If he is not killed they will plan a hijacking
drama to rescue him. I hope they put him at the bottom of the Arabian Sea, where
Osama is " resting".
Yes, Justice came after 4 years for a foreigner. As a comman Indian seeking similar punishments for anti-nationals [ corrupt breucrats / politicians / business man etc]
Kasab Hanged....... At last a tribute from Indian Government to 166
people who died in 26/11.
should we rejoice his death??? will his death give solace to the
departed souls of the carnage??? what a mixed bag of emotions... should
we support the pain of our Indians??? or should we look at the
humanity???
Very rightly said by Mr.Patil.
The capital punishment execution will infuse confidence into the people
of India(in & abroad) before law.
This will instill great faith in our Judiciary System, though it is slow but we cannot say it is not sure,i pay my kind tribute to all those who lost their precious life in 26/11 mindless act of terror
Justice!!!!....Finally !!
Rare courage displayed by an ordinary constable armed with just a
lathi of the Maharashtra Police resulted in the arrest of Ajmal Kasab,
one of the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai massacre. Revelations in a
Pakistani television channel gave us the information that he is a
Pakistani national. Immediately BJP started saying that Pakistan
declared war on India and has been demanding his hanging. Facebook was
full of comments and notes on his fate. Going by the discussion in
facebook a visitor from Mars can be forgiven if he thinks that once
Kasab is hanged India will become a land of milk and honey. Reaction
of BJP that the hanging would send the right message across the border
is really amusing. In 1998 they thought that they would be sending the
right message by exercising the nuclear option. Advani went to the
extent of inviting them for a war at a place of their choice. They
retaliated by exercising their own option which robbed us of our
conventional superiority forever and the region earned the sobriquet
of a most dangerous place. Actually kasab is a small fry motivated by
religious hatred. His young age and, lack of education, grinding
poverty and his immaturity was exploited by his handlers who are
roaming free. We have to be worried about that. Terrorism is the
result of a particular mindset which is no different from the one
paying tributes to a person known to nurse all kinds of biases and
hatred.
Indeed a TRUE tribute to the people of INDIA who laid their life on that fatefull day
Punishment as a deterrent alone keep peace in society.Human values
demand that law-abiding citizens should be protected while law-breakers
are punished.
Capital punishment should be awarded to those who indulge in dastardly
acts of violence. The perpetrators of violence pay no heed to values in
committing such acts.Invoking values to defend their action will erode
values.
True homage to the victims is not paid until the chief of LeT Hafiz Saeed is brought down, while he now roams as a free man in pakistan.
It is good to hear that Kasab was hanged atleast now. This verdict clearly shows India will not tolerate the barbaric acts against it. Kudos for the Judgenment panel of Supreme court, who has give this verdict.
"Police had succeeded in capturing Kasab alive after killing the
remaining nine terrorists." Salute to the Indian Police
this will help the youth to keep faith in country's law and order
system.....jaihind.....
He should be hanged long time back that would have saved tax payer's
money. He and his group was found killing 166 people at least in those
three days and they were captured on camera, what does it took so many
days to upholding the punishment.
We should ask these questions to our government.
Even if one's reason says that the enormity of the crime ensured that the capital punishment had to be meted out, one's heart feels, on hearing the mind-numbing news of a man having been hanged, and in that fragile moment wishes that all these had not come to pass and that everyone would live in peace and happiness.
The thorough interrogation and the fair "rule of the land" brought upon "Pakistani" terrorist (I can't reiterate enough) by India is amongst the finest shows of justice delivered no matter how slow the system delivers it or monstrous the atrocity.
It's for the US and the West to learn from India that Guantanamo Bay has brought nothing but more discontentment amongst the Muslim brothers worldwide and arm the religious extremists in brainwashing more into terrorism.
Italy should keep off (the trial of Italian Navy sailors in India) and US should take a leaf from a "3rd world country".
Have the Government got any info from Kasab after 4 long years spending
crores of Rupees? Should have hanged him a long time back! Shouldn't
have been this much subtle.
Ajmal Kasab got what he deserved, but he should have been hanged much
earlier.

Great news to start a day !!!
When I saw the report my first reaction was of surprise since I didn't expect things move so swiftly. However, this news will indeed bring a sense of relief to the survivors of 26/11 attacks and with them to everyone across the country. Finally justice has been done. That apart, we all should remember that hanging Kasab will not automatically make this country safer. We must revamp our security infrastructure along the borders through which terrorists like Kasab sneaked in. Instead of feeling complacent about getting rid of the lone surviving terrorist of Mumbai attack, the government must focus on its lapses that resulted in the massacre and ensure that they do not recur.
Justice finally. Every Indian was waiting for this moment.
I hope the hanging is not going to be touted as an achievement in the coming elections.
Finally some justice for all Indians whose lives were cut short by this hate filled terrorist and
also some kind of a closure to their near and dear ones.
We salute our policemen and armed forces who sacrificed their lives to capture Kasab.
Now the souls of those whose lives had been cruelly taken away about four years back, will
rest in peace. India should stand united to face any dity game probably Kasab's
sympathisers within and from outside, might try to play. GOI should pursue the matter
vigorously to bring Kasab's handlers too to similar justice ! Congrats to President and the
union Home Ministry for their decisive action, unlike their predecessors!
I hope the kith and kin of victims of 26/11 get closure.
Justice served.
Thanks to President. May the soul of Great Warriors and Mumbai peoples
who lost their precious lives will rest in peace now.True Diwali :-)
Uproot the Terrorism
Hopefully this should bring closure to the people who have lost their loved ones
A welcome step by Indian govt by hanging the miscreant who not only tried
to rejuvenate terror in Mumbai but also left his community, country and
humanity deplored by his inhuman and callous act.
A real tribute to our martyrs
Finally after long last, justice prevails. Hope the Govt. strengthens security to ensure that an attack of this nature never happens again.
Finally it happened.Better late than never.
Good Job by Indian Government.
