ZP observes Constitution Day

Zilla Panchayat president Shwetha Devaraj on Saturday called upon students to understand the essence of the Indian Constitution and make efforts to fulfil its objectives. She was speaking after inaugurating a Constitution Day programme here.

“B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution studied the constitutions of different countries before framing ours,” she said, calling upon schoolchildren to respect the Constitution by not violating it.

Zilla Panchayat chief executive officer R. Venkatesh Kumar, in his preliminary remarks, said November 26 was declared Constitution Day as on that day in 1949 the Indian Constitution was accepted by the constituent assembly.“Every citizen should know the constitution and adhere to it. The younger generation should be taught about it at the school level, he said.
