Chief Executive Officer of Mandya Zilla Panchayat, B. Sharath, paid a surprise visit to the pre-metric hostel for boys at Sindaghatta in K.R. Pet taluk, of the district on Thursday.
He instructed officials concerned of the Social Welfare Department to improve the living conditions at the hostel, besides initiating disciplinary action against warden K. Kempaiah for violating rules pertaining to service.
Mr. Sharath was apprised that the warden, who was not present at the hostel at the time of the visit, consumed liquor at the hostel, and scolded the inmates. The students complained about the quality of food being served to them. Mr. Sharath ordered the appointment of a new warden.
