‘Youth yearning for change are turning to Modi, BJP’

‘NDA destined to free country from Congress-led government’s misrule’

October 21, 2013 09:29 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:41 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Rajya Sabha member and treasurer of the BJP Piyush Goyal on Sunday said that Gujarat Chief Minister and party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is the natural choice of the people and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is destined to “free the country from the Congress-led government’s misrule”.

Addressing party workers at a function organised by Friends of BJP here, Mr. Goyal said that after the next Lok Sabha elections, the NDA, led by the BJP, would form the government at the Centre and bring the country back into the comity of self-respecting nations.

Development work in the country has come to a standstill on account of poor governance and rampant corruption under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The youth of the country must vote out the scam-hit Union government led by the Congress, he said.

MP Ananth Kumar said that the electorate, keeping in mind the country’s future, should vote for the BJP’s candidates in the parliamentary elections. All the pre-poll surveys, which were conducted by various agencies for private news channels before October 2013, predicted the defeat of the Congress-led Union government.

He said that all unpopular and anti-people and anti-democratic alliance partners, led by the Congress, would get submerged under the rising tide of the Modi phenomenon and the BJP-led NDA would form the next government.

The youth of the country are yearning for a change and are turning to Mr. Modi and the BJP, he said.

Noting that the NDA government, led by A.B. Vajpayee, had provided a new direction to the country, Mr. Kumar alleged that the UPA government has divided the people on communal and caste lines.

The UPA government has not been able to the control the situation in the Andhra Pradesh in the wake of the announcement on Telangana, and public property worth crore of rupees had been damaged in that State, he alleged.

Nearly 1,500 volunteers participated in the meeting. Volunteers of the Friends of BJP said that they would distribute three types of pamphlets to the people explaining why they should vote for the BJP in the 2014 elections.

The volunteers would tour villages on Saturdays and Sundays and urge people to vote for the BJP to bring the party to power and oust the Congress-led government.

BJP leaders said that Friends of BJP volunteers drawn from different professions would work for the party free.
