Youth held during protest allowed to write UPSC exam

District and Principal Session judge V. Shreeshananda permitted Harikrishna Lokanath Hebasur, who was arrested during a protest over Mahadayi, to appear for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam to be held here on August 7. However, he was not granted bail.

Hebasur is an engineering graduate, who is a civil service aspirant. While hearing his bail application, the judge said the candidate should be allowed to appear for the exam. He ordered that the candidate, who is lodged at the Ballari central prison, should be brought to Dharwad in the vehicle of senior counsel V.D. Kamaraddi escorted by an assistant sub-inspector and two constables and placed at Dharwad central prison.

He directed that all arrangements for his studies be provided at the prison cell. The bail application hearing has been postponed to August 9.
