The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the State on Wednesday claimed before the High Court of Karnataka that the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa’s actions affected the Bangalore Development Authority’s project of forming Shivarama Karanth Layout. A submission in this regard was made by ACB’s counsel during the hearing of petitions filed by Mr. Yeddyurappa questioning two First Information Reports (FIRs) registered by the ACB against him for allegedly misusing his official position as Chief Minister for recommending deletion of certain lands notified for the formation of the layout.
Senior Counsel Ravi Varma Kumar, appearing for the ACB, contended that the exercises, like submission of representation directly to the then Chief Minister by some landowners and recommendation made by Mr. Yeddyurappa to the BDA for deleting those lands from acquisition process, were “stage managed”.
The ACB also opposed Mr. Yeddyurappa’s plea for staying investigation and contended that staying probe would be contrary to the law.
Justice Aravind Kumar, who is hearing the petitions, adjourned further hearing till Thursday.
