The former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has been named, along with four others, in a new land denotification case.
A complaint filed before the Lokayukta Special Court also names Nippani MLA Kakasaheb Patil, Tumkur MP G.S. Basavaraju, B.M. Anand and Rathnamma.
According to the complaint, the Bangalore Development Authority had planned to acquire land in Banashankari 5th Phase in 2002 for developing 66 sites. Mr. Anand and Ms. Rathnamma had sought denotification of the land as they wanted to set up a school. The couple had submitted a memorandum to the then Chief Minister S.M. Krishna seeking denotification. However, the denotification review committee rejected the plea, saying that the land belonged to the BDA.
The couple again submitted a memorandum when H.D. Kumaraswamy was Chief Minister and their petition was rejected again.
When they approached Mr. Yeddyurappa, he allegedly recommended denotification of the land.
The complainant, Hunsur K. Chandrashekhar, has said the denotification resulted in many citizens being denied sites.
