With the high command likely to take the decision on the demand of the former Karnataka Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa, seeking to be put in the saddle, post-Rajya Sabha poll on March 30, the BJP strong man arrived here late on Wednesday and held discussions with party seniors, including Arun Jaitley.
Accompanied by three ministers of the Sadananda Gowda Ministry and his loyalists — Umesh Katti, Basavaraj Bommai and Jagadish Shettar — Mr. Yeddyurappa highlighted his point of view to the high command and sought justice, in view of the clearance of his name by the Karnataka High Court vis-a-vis Lokayukta report indicting him on the mining scam.
Sources close to him were confident that he would be given back the reins as a few senior functionaries thought he had a strong case.
The decision of the Yeddyurappa camp, claiming the support of 70 of the 120 BJP MLAs, to end the “boycott legislature” protest, was an indication that the imbroglio might end soon in a smooth manner, the sources added.
The former Chief Minister is also likely to meet party president Nitin Gadkari on Thursday after he returned here from Nagpur, besides senior leaders like L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj and M. Venkaiah Naidu.
