Yakshagana Ranga Sambhrama at Sirsi from today

A two-day Yakshagana Ranga Sambhrama will begin at Samudaya Bhavana near Yellapur Naka, here, from Saturday. Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy, Bengaluru, has organised the event.

Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, MLA, will inaugurate it at 10.30 a.m. Parthi Subba Award winners Hostota Manjunath Bhagwathar and G.S. Bhat, Mysuru, will be the chief guests. Academy member P. Kishan Hegde will be present.

Seminar

M.A. Hegde and Shripad Bhat will speak on ‘Specialities of Yakshagana in Uttara Kannada’. Kadatoka Gopalkrishna Bhagwat, Kashyapa Parnakuti and Shrishaila Hebbar will be present.

Performance

Doddata ‘Srikrishna Parijata’ will be staged by Veeranna Kambar team from Ramadurga, Sannata ‘Bhagiratha’ by Surendra Hullur team of Karnataka Folklore University, and ‘Karma Parva’ by women artistes of Sirikala Mela, Bengaluru.

Yakshagana artistes Diwakar Hedge and Prajna Mattihalli will speak on the challenges of Mahila Yakshagana at a seminar beginning from 10.30 a.m. on Sunday. Gopalkrishna Hegde Kumta and Vidwan dattamurthy Bhat will be present. Doddata ‘Veera Abhimayu’ will be staged later.
