Yakshagana competition to be held in Bangalore from 5 October

The London Yakshagana competition, 2014 organised by the Kuntikanamata Ltd., will be held in Bangalore between October 5 and 12. While the quarter-finals will be held at Kuvempu Kalakshetra, the semi-finals and finals will take place at Kanteerava Indoor Stadium. There will be five to six shows daily.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Ganesh N. Bhat Bayar, Operations Director of Kuntikanamata Ltd, said “We have made an effort taking our art internationally and we want to build a brand taking our art abroad.”

The competition commenced in Mangalore and Udupi where 82 teams with over 1,000 participants successfully completed 21 days first level programme. Top two teams would be presented with Rs. 10 lakhs and Rs. Five lakh each for two styles. Man of the series will be given Rs.1 lakh, Mr. Bayar said.

Top three teams from each Tenku Tittu and Badagu Tittu style will be taken to London to present Yakshagana there during April and May next year. For details, visit www.londonyakshaganacompetition.com. Or Call 9886954949 / 9742386363.
