Yadgir DC’s transfer sought

April 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Yadgir:

Activists of the Shoshitara Para Horatada Sanghatanegala Okkoota have urged the State government to transfer Deputy Commissioner Manoj Jain from Yadgir alleging that he has failed to address the drinking water crisis faced by people across the district.

They staged a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday.

The protesters alleged in a memorandum addressed to the Regional Commissioner of Kalaburagi revenue division that Mr. Jain was declining to meet with the public, farmers, and leaders of organisations and political parties when they came to his office seeking relief.

They also urged the authorities to fulfil their other demands such as releasing compensation to farmers whose crops were damaged due to drought.
