Noted Kannada writer Nirupama (82) passed away at 6.30 a.m. on Thursday. Her last rites were performed at Harischandra Ghat in the presence of relatives and literary lovers.

In her literary career spanning half a century, Dr. Nirupama published over 118 works in various genres of literature. She was instrumental in setting up Makkala Sahitya Parishat in 1985.
