: Cancer affects around 30,000 persons in Karnataka every year, Vipin Goel, cancer specialist from Indo American cancer hospital, Hyderabad, said here on Sunday.

“Timely treatment can cure cancer. Awareness and a healthy lifestyle can help us stay from the disease,” he said. M. Goel was speaking at a workshop organised by the Indian Medical association. Around 30 per cent of male victims and 25 per cent of female victims had been found to be tobacco users. Avoiding tobacco reduces chances of cancer, he said.
