Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav called upon students to work hard and come out with flying colours in the examinations.
He was addressing students at the Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), where he studied engineering in the early 90s.
He was felicitated on behalf of the college by JSS Mahavidyapeetha Director (Technical) M.H. Dhananjaya. The Chief Minister became nostalgic and recounted his experiences during his time at SJCE. He recalled how he failed in six out of seven subjects in the first year of his BE course.
Some of his friends had also fared poorly. In the following years, he studied hard, and scored over 70 per cent in the final examination, he said. Mr. Yadav added that SJCE had played a major role in his success in politics. SJCE principal B.G. Sangameshwara, welcomed the guests. Syed Shakeeb-Ur-Rahman, SJCE vice-principal recalled that Mr. Yadav was a “simple and down-to-earth” student.
