‘Women’s empowerment will prevent atrocities’

Sadhana Tantri, member, executive committee, Kannada University, Hampi, is of the view that empowerment of women and instilling self-confidence in them through education and skill development can help prevent atrocities on them.

Delivering the valedictory address at a seminar on prevention of atrocities on women, organised by department of women studies of the university at Hampi on Tuesday, she expressed concern over the rise in atrocities on women and blamed the loopholes in the law, among other things, for it. Ms. Tantri also blamed the visual media for glorifying crime leading to a fall in moral values.
