Expressing anguish over the sale of liquor in their village, residents of Keelaghatta in Maddur taluk staged a protest demonstration here on Monday.
They squatted on the ground outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office for a while here, and shouted slogans against officials concerned of the excise department.
The illegal sale of liquor is making life of women folk miserable in the village, which is very close to Koppa. M.N. Nagabhushan, deputy commissioner, should regulate the sale of liquor in Keelaghatta, they urged.
They said that the economically poor people are affected as liquor is being sold in petty shops/provision stores in the village.
