Manjula Manasa, Chairperson State Commission for Women, said that she would first talk to the woman IAS officer, who had complained against D.K. Ravi before deciding on the next course of action.

“The woman IAS officer has not lodged a formal complaint before the Commission. I came to know that she had written a letter to Chief Secretary to the Government complaining against D.K. Ravi through media reports. I want to talk to the woman IAS officer personally and ascertain all details. Only then I will think of the next course of action. So far, I have not been able to talk to her personally too,” Ms. Manasa said.

She was responding to questions by presspersons here on Monday as to whether the Commission would be registering a suo motu case based on the letter written by the woman IAS Officer complaining against Ravi.

To another question, Ms. Manasa said that she was contemplating to form Vigilance committees at the Divisional level or District level committees, headed by senior officers, to prevent sexual harassment on women at work places in the wake of existing committees at local levels not being very effective.

“I have been receiving complaints of sexual harassment. But unfortunately, the complaint would not give her name or mobile phone number. In such cases, it would be very difficult for the Commission to register a case. In this background, I want to propose to the State government to form vigilance committees at district level or at divisional level so that the complainants can approach them for justice. I have already written a letter to the government in this regard. I am hopeful that the government would respond positively after the ongoing budget session is over,” she said.
