A petty quarrel over drying clothes turned tragic for a 28-year-old woman when she was allegedly set ablaze in Janata Colony in Soladevanhalli police limits on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ravikala Anjanappa, employed in a private hospital. On Thursday night, an argument ensued between Ravikala and her neighbours, Munitayamma and her daughter Roopa, as the victim had tied a rope near her neighbour’s house to dry clothes.

When the quarrel turned nasty, Ravikala’s brother, Ravikumar, intervened and tried to stop the women from fighting. However, he was attacked by Munitayamma’s two sons, Manja and Murali, who allegedly hit him with a stick, injuring him.

The duo then proceeded to take a kerosene bottle kept nearby and allegedly doused Ravikala with it before setting her on fire.

In his complaint Ravikumar said: “As the two boys had hit me, I was injured and could not even rush to help my sister who was charred to death soon.”
