A woman was allegedly murdered by a person using a wooden log on Friday at Theriyur in Madhugiri taluk in the district.

The police said that the deceased is identified as Anjanamma (45), wife of Narasimhamurthy.

Two days back, Anjanamma had quarrelled with Ramanjenappa (65) over filling drinking water from the tap in Theriyur. After the quarrel, Ramanjenappa had threatened of beating her.

Ramanjenappa went to her house on Friday with a wooden log and kicked open the door. He then saw Anjanamma sleeping on a cot in the hall and even before Anjanamma woke up he allegedly hit her head with the wooden log around 12.30 a.m.

She succumbed to head injuries. Her daughter was sleeping in the room but she did not come out fearing that he may kill her also.

The police have arrested Ramanjenappa and case is registered in Kodigenahalli police station.
